「買不起、租不起、住不了、進不去」 只顧炒賣的後果是區區豪宅化，樓價不斷上升，租金節節上升土地只用來建豪宅，所有舊區的唐樓都被迫「等待收購」，貧富懸殊加據，基層市民卻連租住一個宜居的房子的權利都喪失。基層市民「租不起」一個單位，就惟有住劏房，就算租到，也可能「住不了」，住上一陣子，面對各種形形式式的收購，也不知甚麼時候會突然「進不了」自己的家。輪候公屋，更是遙不可及的夢。基層租客的日子只能過一天算一天…（過得一日得一日） 基層住屋問題的嚴重性無可置疑，大量興建公屋實是社會...共識。 不是土地供應，而是土地分配不均 現屆政府上場以來，只以土地供應不足作為擋箭牌，叫基層市民去新界東北居住。為何窮人就要住偏遠地區？地產商可盡情買和收購用地？炒家卻可任買市區豪宅？基本住屋需要是否高於和炒賣的需要？這種炒家和地產商賺盡香港人血汗錢的邏輯，卻以收入微薄捱貴租的狀況是否合理？ 我們認為真正的問題在於土地分配不均。市區重建局收回的土地、勾地表上的土地、前公務員宿舍、地政總署以短期租約租出的土地、殺校後的空置校舍、港鐵站上蓋、1200公頃未發展的村屋土地、還有空置土地等等，通通都可以建公屋和平價樓。就讓全港各區承擔市民基本住屋的需要和權利，重奪土地的話語權，實現區區建公屋和區區建平價樓吧！
“Can’t afford to buy; can’t afford to rent; can’t inhabit; can’t enter” The consequences of housing speculation are multiple: gentrification of housing in every district, rapidly soaring housing prices and rents that the grassroots “can’t afford to buy” or “can’t afford to rent”, land being reserved only for building luxurious mansions, tenement houses forced to “wait for acquisition” in all districts, and widening gap of the rich and the poor that the grass root citizens even lose the right to inhabit in a livable house. The grass root citizens who “can’t afford to rent” a proper unit resort to subdivided units. Even if they succeed in renting a proper unit, they may face the fate that they “can’t inhabit”: under various forms of housing acquisition, they do not know when their rented units will be acquired so that they “can’t enter” their home. Waiting for the allocation of Public Rental Housing is their distant dream. Therefore, the grass root tenants can only live a day-to-day existence. As the grass-root housing problem is severe, building massive public rental housing is the social consensus. Not the supply of land, but the uneven distribution of land Inadequate land supply has always been an excuse of the current term of government. One of the solutions proposed by the government is to let the grass root citizens to move to the northeast part of the New Territories. However, we have to ponder several questions about justice and fairness: why do the poor have no choice but to live in remote areas? Why do the real estate developers have the right to buy and acquire land unrestrictedly? Why do the speculators enjoy unlimited purchase of urban luxurious mansions? Is basic housing need outweigh speculation? Is it rational that most of the wealth is accumulated in the hands of small number of real estate developers and speculators, while the general public who only earn little have to suffer expensive rents? We think that the real problem lies on the uneven distribution of land. Public rental housing and cheap units can be built on various land such as the vacant land obtained by the Urban Renewal Authority, the land on the Application List, the former civil servant quarters, the land leased by the Lands Department under short-term tenancy, empty campus of the “killed” schools, the MTRCL property above the MTR stations, the 1200 hectares of undeveloped land of village houses, and vacant land, etc. Let the housing needs and rights of the grass-root citizens to be shared by all districts in Hong Kong!
